ISA card to USB adaptor
August 26th, 2008 | by Joe |
Here is a way to communicate with an old ISA card through your USB port. The USB2ISA from ARS Technologies allows the plugging in of any standard computer PC ISA card. What ARS has done here is worked out all the timing and transactions of the ISA bus and created a series of commands sent out by USB from your system.
The board comes with a Universal Software Layer that runs in windows for DOS applications. USB2ISA does work with Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX and has information in the the form a software development kit called sdkbus. There are also power supplies and enclosures for the board. The price is 149 dollars.

I have an older 486 PC that needs to have a USB interface installed. There may be 1 PCI slot, but the rest of the slots are ISA. Is there an ISA/USB card or PCI/USB card available, and I’d guess next would come the conversion software?? Any info would help…Thanks
