can you use all wireless g usb adapters will all wireless g routers?
March 4th, 2009 | by Joe |I just purchased a d-link wireless g router but i don't have the money for the usb adapter. I wanted to know if i can buy another type of wireless g usb adapter that is cheapier, will it be compatible with my router?
In theory, yes. You should be able to use any combination of 802.11g equipment from different manufacturers.
However, you'll have a lower risk of problems if you stick to equipment from a single manufacturer. At the very least, they'll use the same terminology in their documentation, making setup easier. And if you do have problems, sometimes two competing manufacturers will blame each other and it can be very hard to figure out what the real problem is.

Yes… Doesnt matter what brand it is.
Belkin, Linksys, Netgear, Dlink etc….
You dont have to have the same brand card for it to work. Wireless G routers are actually (Wireless B + G) so you could also get a card that is wireless B if you wanted to. Best to go with G for signal range…
But yes different brands do work together, its all based upon the same structure.
