This is a pretty good review of a huge usb joystick controller that has a trackball in the center. This is an expensive unit and the reviewer does question the build quality at some points in the video.

Classic Game Room reviews the X-ARCADE TANKSTICK from X-Arcade powered by Xgaming. This massive dual arcade joystick with a trak-ball can be used on PCs with USB inputs and on Sega Dreamcast, PS2 (and PS1), GameCube, PS3 and Xbox 360 with the appropriate adapters. Complex, expensive and difficult to program, the X-arcade Tankstick won’t be for those who aren’t serious about their gaming with some time, money and patience on their site. Awesome arcade-style gameplay is delivered when all is said and done though. For this review the Xarcade Tankstick was tested with PC games before and after programming, Mame emulators, PS2 and Sega Dreamcast.

CGR recommends the Dreamstick from Dream Arcade for Xbox 360 because it is a 360 controller disassembled and built into an arcade stick to prevent lag. The Tankstick works well with PC, Dreamcast and PS2 (all tested for this review using adapters) but don’t expect to not do repair work on it. Build quality is questionable given the price but it’s nothing a butter knife and a few hours can’t fix, which is irritating. The Tankstick can be purchased as a massive controller as shown or bought with an X-Arcade stand up arcade machine. Versatility and style may be the X-Arcade Tankstick’s biggest assets, but those really interested in a house-sized joystick may also want to consider a custom job for the same price. In any event, it is impressive and replaces the Dreamcast controller which needs replacing for many games like Capcom vs. SNK 2,

My PS3 now boasts six (6) fully functional USB ports, the original four in front, and two (2) in the rear. We used the facilities of SkyFiber Inc. R&D lab for our work location as this is a seriously complex (and frightening) mod. www.SkyFiber.com Since their are no schematics or plans anywhere on the net to do this, we had a-lot of head scratching and hurdles to deal with, but in the end it worked out very well as you can see.

Basically what we’ve done is cut the data path from the internal USB controller chip on the PS3 to the #4 USB port (the one closest to the center). We then wired the upstream connection on the “external” hub to the PS3′s data output on those traces, thus tricking the PS3 into thinking there’s a regular four port hub plugged into the front. After that, we wired a downstream cable from the “external” hub back to the PS3′s front USB port. To activate the two rear USB ports we simply ran 2 pairs of data lines from the “external” hub.

All power to and from the “external” hub was handled with and old IDE HDD ribbon cable trimmed down to three wires power, negative, and ground. The results: 1. It works with no limitations 2. Anything can be plugged into the front and rear USB ports. This includes charging your Sixaxis controller, more hubs, Playstation Eye, external HDD, etc. 4. This setup is a true USB hub and I absolutely love it! I must give a BIG thank-you to jasonuscg (youtube.com for all the promotion work on the previous video, thanks man!

Copy the files to your USB device, use diskpart to make the partition active, and use bootsect to write the bootcode. Insert the flash drive into the computer and set it to boot from USB (refer to manual) – most newer computers should be able to boot to usb. Install Windows like you normally would from DVD. This method should also work if your computer has a card reader, such as for SD cards. If anyone tries this with an SD card, let me know if it works!

How to fix the Acer Aspire One black screen problem – flash the BIOS www.LowEndGuru.com This video tutorial shows you how to fix the “black screen of death” problem of the Acer Aspire One netbook. This is a very common problem with this netbook since it was released to the market with a defective BIOS software that can eventually fail and needs to be upgraded. This problem is so common, that the manufacturer decided to post the solution on the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) of his site. Notice that the instructions in the official FAQ tells you to download the version 3309 of the BIOS, this will fix the problem, but I got the black screen again a couple of months after fixing it.

My recommendation (as can be seen in the video) is to go get the latest BIOS version for your particular model of Acer Aspire One. These are the instructions according to ACER “Create a recovery USB drive to update the Bios on the unit. The specific steps to perform this recovery with the USB drive are: 1. Download & Extract AS1_BIOS_3309.zip (found in support.acer.com 2. Rename the Bios name from 3309.fd to zg5ia32.fd. 3. Copy zg5ia32.fd and Flashit.exe to USB flash drive. 4. Start the restoration process: A. Plug the AC Adapter into the unit. B. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port. C. Press and Hold down the Fn and the Esc keys together. D. Keep these keys held down and press power. E. When the unit’s power light comes on release the Fn and Esc keys. F.

This is me flashing my BIOS with a Gigabyte P55-UD4P motherboard using the Q-flash utility which comes on Gigabyte motherboards. I looked for a video on Q-flash I could use for a reference and could not find one so, I made one. I am not an expert. Use this information at your own risk. Do not flash your BIOS for no reason, it can ruin your board if you don’t do it correctly. I don’t claim this information is all correct. This method worked for me. Only use this troubleshooting guide if your USB Flash drive can not be booted by entering the boot menu on your computer by pressing the allocated key (which is clearly listed on the bottom of your screen when you turn on most computers). The most common keys for boot menu are ‘F8′ and ‘F12′. Troubleshooting: set your computer to boot from USB Flash Drive. To Enter the BIOS press the ‘Del’ button on your keyboard or, depending on the type of bios, one of these alternatives: ‘F1′, ‘F2′, ‘F8′, ‘F10′ ‘F12′, ‘insert’ or ‘tab’. Also, since the LED is very bright, in this video it is not easy to see how good it actually is and how much it tells (changing colors, etc.) once you learn the controller’s operation. – Basically, on this video we did the following operations * ISO adjustment * Turn Live View mode ON (ISO, aperture, shutter speed and exposure compensation can also be changed in LV mode) * Check focus of subject “David” using zoom level function, and save focus point #1 for later use * Move the focus zone to the subject “chair”, adjust focus using the knob with the help of zoom level and save focus point #2 * Start recording video * Rack focus from focus point #2 to focus point #1 by simply pressing focus point #1 * Stop recording video * Move the focus zone to subject “David” to show that the rack focus was done properly.
