Belkin USB Serial Does Not Work on Mac OSX?

Reading the reviews on Amazon, it appears that this serial adapter does not work on Macs. It is listed to work under windows 2000 and above.  It also says in the product description that it does not need a driver under windows which seems to indicate that it adheres to the communications-device class (CDC) of the USB standard. This would lead us the believe that it would work under linux and other operating systems since this is a fairly popular usb device class. The Amazon postings are rather old so maybe the incompatibility has been discovered and corrected as of OSX 10.5.
