This is useful for playing emulators with your favorite classic games, and works well as a normal PC gamepad as well. Here I put it through the rounds of various emulators for NES, SNES, N64, and Genesis. I also take it for a spin in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. This is a very thorough review of the controller and in the video he takes the time to go over all the aspects of using the playstation controller even talking about its rumble feature. There is some discussion about the analog mode that some emulators don’t support.

I found out about the CWiid project, which consists of a library called libwiimote, a wminput application to make your Wiimote into a mouse, keyboard, or joystick, and wmgui, a Wiimote GUI. In this video, I only use wmgui, which isn’t that useful, but it shows the status and readout of the Wiimote data. The PC is running Ubuntu Linux 7.04 with the IOGear GBU221P USB Bluetooth Adapter (the blue glowy thing is a USB hub, my laptop only has one USB port, the Bluetooth adapter and my wireless mouse are plugged into it). The music is the end credits music from Twilight Princess (it’s from the Wii, at least, didn’t have anything better for background music). The camera takes a while to focus…that’s because it’s older than I am, I had to record directly through my PC TV card because recording to VHS-C would mean horrible tracking issues.

Knock off that is not a direct copy always fascinates me, as it seems to completely go against the “quick buck” mentality that creates Knock offs in the first place. I now use for my RET Percussion electronic drum set are the Smartrigger electronic cymbals. They work and feel great! The Alesis Surge cymbals are made from the Smartrigger design. How does it hook up?! My drums and cymbals go into the Alesis Trigger IO. My Trigger IO goes into my laptop (USB cable). Within SD2.0, I have the IO selected as my MIDI device. My FireBox is separate and goes into my laptop (Firewire cable). Within SD2.0, I have my FireBox selected as my audio device. If I record, I usually just use Cubase SX3 or Cakewalk. Check out the VPT Video 2.0 for nothing but the drums!

This is a video of a guy (who says absolutely nothing) showing a web cam and a mess of wires on top of his keyboard. The other end it hooked up to the ethernet like usb device. Funny that he points the camera at his monitor screen giving you the infinite windows effect. cool. Lastly he shows you the other RJ45 end hooked up in the back of his computer. Interesting if you just want to just see what one of these things look like, but don’t expect an elaborate explanation of USB over RJ45 extensions. This is a pretty good review of a huge usb joystick controller that has a trackball in the center. This is an expensive unit and the reviewer does question the build quality at some points in the video.

Classic Game Room reviews the X-ARCADE TANKSTICK from X-Arcade powered by Xgaming. This massive dual arcade joystick with a trak-ball can be used on PCs with USB inputs and on Sega Dreamcast, PS2 (and PS1), GameCube, PS3 and Xbox 360 with the appropriate adapters. Complex, expensive and difficult to program, the X-arcade Tankstick won’t be for those who aren’t serious about their gaming with some time, money and patience on their site. Awesome arcade-style gameplay is delivered when all is said and done though. For this review the Xarcade Tankstick was tested with PC games before and after programming, Mame emulators, PS2 and Sega Dreamcast.

CGR recommends the Dreamstick from Dream Arcade for Xbox 360 because it is a 360 controller disassembled and built into an arcade stick to prevent lag. The Tankstick works well with PC, Dreamcast and PS2 (all tested for this review using adapters) but don’t expect to not do repair work on it. Build quality is questionable given the price but it’s nothing a butter knife and a few hours can’t fix, which is irritating. The Tankstick can be purchased as a massive controller as shown or bought with an X-Arcade stand up arcade machine. Versatility and style may be the X-Arcade Tankstick’s biggest assets, but those really interested in a house-sized joystick may also want to consider a custom job for the same price. In any event, it is impressive and replaces the Dreamcast controller which needs replacing for many games like Capcom vs. SNK 2,

This is an interesting diy video that you might find interesting. I have a headset, and the microphone will not work when it’s plugged into any ordinary microphone input. It’s not a case of the plug being the wrong size or type, the microphone is an electret condenser microphone, so it needs to be powered. I made an adaptor cable, the microphone plugs into one end, the other end goes to the tape recorder (or whatever) and it has a 9v battery connection for powering the mic.

When its plugged straight into a computer, the computer provides power for the mic and this is what the headset was designed for, but I intend to use it with other stuff too. It’s also why I chose NOT to get a USB one.

PS3 Mod Create 6 USB Ports 4 Front And 2 Rear

My PS3 now boasts six (6) fully functional USB ports, the original four in front, and two (2) in the rear. We used the facilities of SkyFiber Inc. R&D lab for our work location as this is a seriously complex (and frightening) mod. www.SkyFiber.com Since their are no schematics or plans anywhere on the net to do this, we had a-lot of head scratching and hurdles to deal with, but in the end it worked out very well as you can see.

Basically what we’ve done is cut the data path from the internal USB controller chip on the PS3 to the #4 USB port (the one closest to the center). We then wired the upstream connection on the “external” hub to the PS3′s data output on those traces, thus tricking the PS3 into thinking there’s a regular four port hub plugged into the front. After that, we wired a downstream cable from the “external” hub back to the PS3′s front USB port. To activate the two rear USB ports we simply ran 2 pairs of data lines from the “external” hub.

All power to and from the “external” hub was handled with and old IDE HDD ribbon cable trimmed down to three wires power, negative, and ground. The results: 1. It works with no limitations 2. Anything can be plugged into the front and rear USB ports. This includes charging your Sixaxis controller, more hubs, Playstation Eye, external HDD, etc. 4. The NetGear wn111 v2 wireless N Usb works!…I have not yet streamed media from my pc yet but i am almost positive that it will stream smooth. If someone wants i will try. I plan on doing it but i have not really needed that feature as of yet so i have not done it yet. Oh if you use Netflix, and watch a movie off of your hard drive first, you have to restart your box and go right to netflix to hear audio….not sure if they fixed this bug but its something that happened to me that i figured out.

This video shows how to install Windows 7 (or Windows Vista) from a USB flash drive or USB hard drive. Copy the files to your USB device, use diskpart to make the partition active, and use bootsect to write the bootcode. Insert the flash drive into the computer and set it to boot from USB (refer to manual) – most newer computers should be able to boot to usb. Install Windows like you normally would from DVD. This method should also work if your computer has a card reader, such as for SD cards. If anyone tries this with an SD card, let me know if it works!

How to fix the Acer Aspire One black screen problem – flash the BIOS www.LowEndGuru.com This video tutorial shows you how to fix the “black screen of death” problem of the Acer Aspire One netbook. This is a very common problem with this netbook since it was released to the market with a defective BIOS software that can eventually fail and needs to be upgraded. This problem is so common, that the manufacturer decided to post the solution on the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) of his site. Notice that the instructions in the official FAQ tells you to download the version 3309 of the BIOS, this will fix the problem, but I got the black screen again a couple of months after fixing it.

My recommendation (as can be seen in the video) is to go get the latest BIOS version for your particular model of Acer Aspire One. These are the instructions according to ACER “Create a recovery USB drive to update the Bios on the unit. The specific steps to perform this recovery with the USB drive are: 1. Download & Extract AS1_BIOS_3309.zip (found in support.acer.com 2. Rename the Bios name from 3309.fd to zg5ia32.fd. 3. Copy zg5ia32.fd and Flashit.exe to USB flash drive. 4. Start the restoration process: A. Plug the AC Adapter into the unit. B. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port. C. Press and Hold down the Fn and the Esc keys together. D. Keep these keys held down and press power. E. When the unit’s power light comes on release the Fn and Esc keys. F.
