In this video I wanted to show how much fun a musician can have in the new Rockband 3. With the addition of MIDI to USB adapter (by Midicats), I was able to hook my Lucina to the PS3 and actually play notes in order to play along with the songs. Definitely a lot more fun than just playing colored buttons that have no real musical function. Take care, -Ed.

This is actually a very good video when someone on camera explains what this USB device does with the emphasis on zero latency which might be a problem with other devices he has used. In this video, I go over the mixer, the available effects, the drum samples, and even how to set a choke for your cymbal!!! Not only does Superior 2 give us loads of control, but the mixer gives us the ability to have separate outputs for all of our kit pieces. Using the zero latency PreSonus FireBox, I can have further control over my kit through separate channels in a mixer! Many people ask: the cymbals

I now use for my RET Percussion electronic drum set are the Smartrigger electronic cymbals. They work and feel great! The Alesis Surge cymbals are made from the Smartrigger design. How does it hook up?! My drums and cymbals go into the Alesis Trigger IO. My Trigger IO goes into my laptop (USB cable). Within SD2.0, I have the IO selected as my MIDI device. My FireBox is separate and goes into my laptop (Firewire cable). Within SD2.0, I have my FireBox selected as my audio device. If I record, I usually just use Cubase SX3 or Cakewalk. Check out the VPT Video 2.0 for nothing but the drums!

ZynAddSubFX is a open source software synthesizer capable of making a countless number of instruments, from some common heard from expensive hardware to interesting sounds that you’ll boost to an amazing universe of sounds. I also show Hydrogen working with the Midi device. JACK Audio Connection Kit is a professional sound server daemon that provides real-time, low latency connections for both audio and MIDI data between applications that implement its API. I play my MELIDI Mc37 Musical Keyboard instrument which is connected to a AMD Sempron 3000+ PC running UbuntuStudio 10.04 Lucid Lynx to make music while recording the video with my Canon FS200 Digital Camera. Original video production by the www.OSGUI.com Tech Show.
