I am basically tying to figure out if it is possible to use an external hard drive to 'convert' from Firewire to USB i.e. download from my miniDV camera to my external HD using Firewire and then upload to my computer using USB...
No. The external firewire drive has no "intelligence"... ...

I have full HD 1080p plasma tv. But it doesn’t have any USB port. It has 3 HDMI port. How could I Connect my USB device with my Plasma. Is there any adepter which convert HDMI to USB or vice versa?
USB ports aren't meant to have audio or video data ...
